Juliet Simms Biography

Wild child, rock star, fashion muse, and protégé to the infamous CeeLo Green, Juliet Simms is a multifaceted singer/songwriter taking her career to the next level as a solo artist. A commanding vocalist who’s been singing since she could walk, Juliet channels her emotions into her music through carefully chosen lyrics and is known for her signature raspy growl. Emerging as a modern day Joan Jett, Juliet is now evolving her career and building on her rocker roots as the former lead vocalist for the rock band Automatic Loveletter, where she established her presence among the rock world.

Now taking on the music industry as a solo artist, Juliet recently inked a deal with Republic Records, has been in the studio writing and recording original music, and touring the world. Her debut solo album is slated for a Spring 2013 release, and the first single, “Wild Child”, was released on December 11th. To debut “Wild Child”, Juliet was asked to return to the stage of The Voice for an unforgettable performance of her new hit single. The track is an unapologetic ode to living life on the edge and sitting pretty on top of the world. This first single is a window into the artist she is becoming, a vocal powerhouse with a fierce independence.

Much of America will also recognize Juliet as the Season 2 runner up of NBC’s hit show The Voice. An instant fan favorite and member of Team CeeLo, Juliet was the only contestant to chart during the competition. Both of Juliet’s renditions of “Roxanne” (The Police) and “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” (James Brown) reached #1 on the iTunes Rock Chart, and the latter track also landed the vocalist at #70 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Grammy Award winning artist CeeLo Green, put it best when he told Juliet, “You don’t need no smoke no mirrors, no nothing. All you need is that voice.” So convinced of her star power, CeeLo has taken a more formal role in developing her career and is now co-managing Juliet with Primary Wave Music, one of the largest independent music publishing, marketing and talent management companies in the U.S (who also manages CeeLo).

Before TV stardom, the California native originally broke onto the music scene with her band Automatic Loveletter, hitting the road and sleeping on top of instruments in the back of a van. Touring vets with several summers on the Warped Tour, the group released two albums, including Truth or Dare (Sony Music Japan) in 2010, and the acoustic The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On (Paper and Plastick) in 2011.

In 2010, Juliet’s distinctive rocker glam style and originality landed her in Gap’s Let’s GAP Together campaign as the ultimate rocker, launching the global brand’s entrance into the Chinese retail market. This was Juliet’s first formal taste of the fashion world, but fashion design and style have always been a huge part of her persona. To coincide with the release of her new single “Wild Child”, Juliet recently partnered with fashion-forward retailer dELiA*s and music lifestyle brand Lyric Culture to design her own Wild Child inspired t-shirt. Additionally, Juliet and her sister, Angie Simms, are in the beginning stages of starting their own fashion line, Saint Savage.

Some other fun facts about Juliet – she SURFS and is an avid YOGI; is a major foodie and loves to COOK; explores her appreciation of art and self-expression through her TATTOOS; and is a CAT lover with two of her own!
